The Northumbria Mysteries will begin on BBC One on Friday 23 October 2026, with Robson Green leading a new detective drama rooted in the landscape of England’s North East.
Green plays Joe Ruby, an ex-convict and gambler whose underworld links pull him toward crime-solving. Liz White co-stars as DI Rose O’Connell, creating an odd-couple pairing across Northumberland’s coast and market towns.
The first four episodes are set to arrive on BBC iPlayer from launch day. Green has described the region’s landmarks as a principal character in the drama, not merely a backdrop.
