Celebrities · USTommy Lee Jones Makes Rare Red Carpet Appearance, Nine Months After Daughter’s Death
Open focused reading view
Tommy Lee Jones made a rare return to the red carpet in Austin, Texas, appearing at the premiere of the second season of FX’s “The Lowdown”. The Oscar-winning actor, 80, posed with costars Ethan Hawke, Ryan Kiera Armstrong, Killer Mike and other members of the ensemble.
Jones wore a navy windowpane plaid blazer over a light blue shirt with jeans for the event. The appearance was his first in nearly three years, bringing him back into the public eye as two new projects arrived on 9 October.
The premiere came nine months after the death of his daughter, Victoria Jones. She was found in a San Francisco hotel in the early hours of 1 January and died at 34 from the toxic effects of cocaine. Her death was ruled accidental.
“The Lowdown” marks Jones’s first onscreen appearance since the tragedy. He plays Lee Raybon Sr., the estranged father of Hawke’s character, in two episodes of the crime comedy-drama’s second season.
Jones also appears in the independent film “Angel and the Badman”, a remake of the 1947 John Wayne classic released on the same day. Speaking about watching Jones work on set, Hawke said: “It made me proud to be an actor.”

Celebrities · USRichard Gere, 77, Makes Candid Confession After Decades in Hollywood: “I Don’t Care”
Open focused reading view
Richard Gere is reflecting on what matters after more than five decades in Hollywood. Speaking with Fox News Digital about the documentary “Wisdom of Happiness”, the 77-year-old actor said other people’s opinions no longer carry the weight they once did. “And frankly, I don’t care that much about it right now, what anyone thinks or says,” he said.
Gere connected that change in outlook to a recent conversation with his eldest son, Homer, who is 26. Remembering himself at 25 and 26, the “Pretty Woman” star said he had been “more susceptible to what people said and thought about me.”
Decades of Buddhist practice have shaped Gere’s belief that lasting peace cannot be supplied by fame, possessions or any other external reward. “Happiness and peace [don’t] come from the outside,” he said, describing that capacity as something already present within each person.
He described greed, anger, jealousy and impatience as passing mental states — “dark clouds coming through”. “They come, and they go,” Gere said, explaining that such feelings do not define the underlying mind.
That philosophy has also guided how Gere views the attention and material rewards attached to a career as one of Hollywood’s most recognisable leading men. His comments frame success less as public approval and more as an inward practice of clarity, perspective and peace.

Music / Celebrity · USTaylor Swift to Close Academy Museum Gala With Special Performance, Fueling Oscar Buzz
Open focused reading view
Taylor Swift will close the sixth annual Academy Museum Gala in Los Angeles with a special performance, the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures announced on 8 October. The appearance puts one of music’s biggest names at the centre of a major film-industry evening.
The gala will also honour filmmaker John Carpenter, actor Colman Domingo and actress Charlize Theron. Swift’s closing set adds a music headline to a night built around those three figures and their work in cinema.
The timing gives the performance an awards-season edge. Swift’s “I Knew It, I Knew You”, written for “Toy Story 5”, is eligible for Best Original Song at the 2027 Oscars, with Academy preliminary voting scheduled to begin in early December 2026.
The Academy’s shortlists are due on 15 December, followed by the nominations announcement on 21 January 2027. A gala performance is no guarantee of recognition, but it arrives as voters prepare to narrow the field.
Swift has never received an Oscar nomination. Her earlier film songs include “Carolina” from “Where the Crawdads Sing”, “Beautiful Ghosts” from “Cats” and “I Don’t Wanna Live Forever” from “Fifty Shades Darker” — a film catalogue that now has a fresh contender entering awards season.

The Emmy Awards will leave their long-running US broadcast-network rotation for Prime Video under a six-year agreement beginning with the 2027 ceremony. The Television Academy and Amazon announced that the streaming service will become the event’s exclusive global home.
The move ends the “Wheel Deal” that alternated the telecast among ABC, CBS, Fox and NBC. The 2026 ceremony completed that cycle, giving the Emmys a single distribution partner for the next phase of the awards show.
The ceremony will still take place live in September. Amazon says viewers will be able to watch worldwide without a Prime Video subscription, making the telecast free in more than 240 countries and territories.
Financial terms were not disclosed. The agreement adds another major live entertainment event to a streaming platform as the television industry continues to shift away from traditional broadcast distribution.

Open focused reading view
Regina Hall is joining Jennifer Aniston and Peter Dinklage in “Naughty”, Universal’s Christmas comedy directed by Olivia Wilde. The casting expands an ensemble built around a family dispute with an unexpectedly magical witness.
Aniston stars as Mallory, a mother trying to secure custody of her son from her former partner. Her unlikely plan sends her in search of Santa Claus, played by Dinklage, in the hope that he will testify at her divorce hearing. Hall is reportedly playing a friend who accompanies Mallory on the journey north.
Universal Pictures has dated the film for a theatrical release on 5 November 2027. The premise gives Wilde room to mix a road-trip comedy with holiday fantasy while keeping the story anchored in Mallory’s high-stakes custody fight.
Hall arrives at the project after appearing in Paul Thomas Anderson’s Oscar-winning “One Battle After Another” and Peacock’s “The Five-Star Weekend”. She also returned as Brenda Meeks in “Scary Movie 6”, adding another studio comedy to a recent run across film and television.

Mia Goth has reportedly filed for divorce from Shia LaBeouf in Los Angeles County, formalising a separation after a long and frequently private relationship.
According to the report, the filing cites irreconcilable differences and requests primary legal and physical custody of the couple’s daughter, with visitation for LaBeouf. The filing reportedly asks that neither party receive spousal support.
The development is based on court-document reporting. Neither a legal filing nor a request made within it should be read as a final court ruling.

The Celebrity Traitors has turned an abrupt Round Table ending into the week’s biggest British reality-TV conversation. The previous episode stopped before a single banishment vote was cast, leaving viewers to debate whether the pause was strategy or pure scheduling theatre.
The answer arrives in the next BBC One episode, which continues the social deduction game and its central question: who can persuade the room before suspicion hardens into a vote?
The format’s strength remains its pressure-cooker simplicity — famous faces, incomplete information and a room in which every hesitation can become evidence.

Welsh ragga-metal band Skindred has released the official video for “Big Em Up”, a track from the album “You Got This”.
Frontman Benji Webbe frames the song as a response to the everyday weight of bad news, personal loss and relentless negativity online. Its instruction is direct: check on your friends, lift people up and put a little encouragement back into circulation.
The message sits naturally inside Skindred’s long-running blend of heavy riffs, reggae rhythm and communal live-show energy.
